Is it the TPS or something else?

I keep getting a TPS sensor code and the truck shuts down to idle while driving with the cruse control engaged after 2 - 10 miles. When it dies I can pump the throttle 3 or 4 times and it will rev back up. It runs fine if I don't engage the cruse and the code clears after two days of driving. Any ideas before I buy a new TPS sensor or is there anything else in the loop?
