trouble shooting before pulling motor
I think I spun a bearing or lost a piston or something.
I was racing a ricer on the interstate then proceeded down the off ramp, when I heard a loud knocking or pounding from the motor. There is some oil dripping from the front of the motor, but cant tell where from yet. I was pushing the truck hard at about 1750 egt's for about 10 sec.'s.
Now the truck seems to idle smoothe and there is no more smoke from the exhaust then the usual puff of white at start up then clears up. Just the very very loud knocking sounding like metal to metal. Will be pulling the motor in a few days. Any suggestion? Bearing? piston?
I havent done any motor work before other than pulling the head on this motor to have it o-ringed, so this is a major undertaking on my part.
The motor has 200,000 miles on it now.
