help power loss and limited rpms

I have a 98.5 3500 and while travelling last night I experienced power loss and can't get the rpm's above 2300. I thought it might be bad fuel because I had just filled up so I stopped again and got a diesel additive. No improvement and have used half a tank. Any ideas?
