crankshaft position sensor

after getting p0336 code and tach dying engine stutter, I am trying to replace the CPS. I got the part from cummins using the engine serial number. I have removed the old one and it looks very different from the new one. The old one is much longer and has a 90 degree bend for the electrical connection. The new one is straight. Should I just use the new one? Or did get I the wrong part even though they had the serial number.
