headlight problem

I went 2 go home tonight in my 99 and the headlights would not come on...
The running lights were though.I check all the fuses..Pulled the high beam switch and they came on only when I had it pulled..I couldn't tell if the high beams were on but it did not look it, and as I drove home with the switch pulled back no one flashed me...Is it the high beam switch????Or just the head light switch...If anyone has had this problem let me know the solution and where the part is located on the truck...
