Starter Replacement on 3rd Generation

Gotta yank starter on '04 & replace. Brand new batteries; starter simply very weak, barely enough umph to turn it over - obviously needs attention. Every single parts house says same "too new - no one rebuilding'em, gotta go Dodge dealer." Dealer wants $610 for the item (BTW, part# 5086932AA, fits '03-'06). Big job to remove our starters on late models?
