anti freeze issue

I'm still scratching my head,

The truck overheated.
I R & R the stat, cap & water pump.

The rad. just pushes the a/f out & won't suck it back.
The pressure test guage at idle went up slowly.
It went up very slow at 1,000 RPM.
Should I call sherlock holmes about this ?
