1st gear in my Auto tranny Slips!
I just changed my automatic transmission fluid and adjusted the bands. Now my first gear is in no hurry to go. It feels like it's slipping alot till I get up some speed or shift to second gear. I adjusted outward the rear band adjustment three turns like the Dodge Factory spec says for 47RE transmission. Before I used to do two turns outward like Haynes book says.
This time I also switched to ATF 4 oil (by the way). Is it my three turns leaving the band too loose? I have 90K miles with no mods to the transmission, just oil and filter changes yearly. Are less turns leaving the first gear tighter and now I'm too loose?
I put it in 911 thread due to I'm suppose to pull a two ton trailer on Friday and have one day to try to fix and I don't want to fry the tranny any more than it probably is. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks. Herb
