05 will not shut down with key off

This is my son's truck, an 05. Last night it wouldn't shut down with the ingition key off. Engine and gages stayed alive.
He took the switch apart and it looked good.
He had to disconnect one of the harbesses on the firewall to shut it down.
Thoughts?
He has a TST box installed..been in for a couple of years..could this be part of the problem?
By the way he owns an auto repair shop but he couldn't figure this out..he's wondering if this is a common occurrance????
