Really bad news.
I had taken my truck in to the dealer a few days ago and got a call back today while I was sleeping. I knew some of this and cant understand other parts. I know my front axle was bent/ broken, I figured the wires to my fan clutch were cut by the fan, I did not know it also needed a new radiator. My question is should I go the insurance route like the dealer mentioned or should I get some of the parts and do it myself. The total was said to be $6600. I could get a slightly used front axle for 21-2500 and a fan clutch for well however much that cost. I see no need for a radiator. I can do all the work myself. I dont have the money to pay for the repair out of pocket but could find the money for the parts to do it myself. My truck is a '07.5 2500 4x4 G56.
What should I do, how much would my insurance go up if at all.
