NV 5600 transmission
On my way home with fiver in tow when there was a wop wop wop wop noise. Kind of sounded like a tire slapping every time it came around. To make it brief I found the noise coming from the tranny and only when in 6th. The noise is not there in a coast situation but increases proportiantely to the amount of torque being applied. I was only 40 miles from home so I finished the trip in 5th. I need this truck on a daily basis. If any one may know what happened I would like advice. After the last edition of TDR and Joe's article on this tranny I am leaning towards a replacement rather than trying to fix as I do not have access to a repair shop in my area. I have used Redline MTL since the first oil change and change oil every year. There were metal pieces in the oil at the first change but has been clean since. I have also always overfilled the oil. TIA
