Vibration enroute to Grand Canyon Help

Sorryfor the long post need your help - I'm in the lobby of the hotel we are visiting over night not sure when I'll have a chance to come upon another PC in the next few days or so.

Before we left I went crazy with tires, rear drums, shoes and brake hardware. Originally what started this mess was a hop in the rear when braking between 40 - 10 mph. Which now come to think of it didn't happen till I put a few hundred miles on the new tires. I spoke with Sam "The Man" Peterson and tried everything - which seemed to make the hop less and much more tolerable. On the road @ speeds 55 and up to about 80 there's a very slight vibration from the rear. Hard to tell if it's from the L or R, nothing in the steering wheel though Then around 70 it comes and goes it's not real bad but just anoying at this point. Kinda comes in gently, progresses up to peak (which feels like an out of balance tire) then peaks down to nothing then comes back etc. I've had tires throw weights before and they never acted like this, they always just vibrated consistently. Could this be the carrier bearing I HOPE NOT - any part numbers out there I hear they are about $200 or so. Can I change with regular hand tools - keep in mind I'm on the road. About how long does it take?

I don't want to wait till it gets worse and leaves me on the roadside dead before I figure it out. Anyway, we are leaving Morristown, TN this a.m. Theres a Cooper Tire Center a few miles down 11E I'm going to have them check the tires for out of round, broken band etc. I spent $800 for the Coppers before we left, so I hopethey treat me right. Just in case I'm wearing my "Still plays with trucks" w/the TDR logo shirt. I beleive we are about 12k members strong if they don't treat me fairly I'll mention the fact that I would have to share with my fellow members how I was treated - of course hopefully I'll be able to share a pleaseant experience with you all. If the Cooper place can't get me in then I'll have to try the NTB on 2960 Knoxville Center Dr. I had the Coopers rebalanced at an NTB back home as I didn't feel comfortable with the pothead that did the balancing when the tires were purchased - he acted as if he was doing me a favor balancing my tires.

Gotta Go the wifey is giving me the "are you finished yet, Joe" look. And you know when ever they use you name in a sentance they mean business Later on.
