Lower Radiator Hose Spring?

I'm in the middle of changing out all hoses, thermostat and waterpump. Thermostat and waterpump was no problem. The replacement lower radiator hose has no spring. I've always known the lower hose to have a spring. Is the spring really important? Should I return the hose and buy one with a spring inside? Thanks...
