frozen lift pump ?

can use some help here guys. 6a.m.and 16 degrees,she fired right up but began to run like it was misfireing. wouldnt take on any r.p.m.,actually lost power as i tried to bring it up. my fuel pressure guage was at 0 . i figured the lift pump went out(14k),got a little mad & drove my ford to work. got home looked for leaks bumped the starter&had 14 l.b.s. pressure like normal. she then lit right up & has been fine since. could the lift pump have frozen?ant thoughts welcome .thanks to all . carl
