leaky six speed tranny
I wouldn't normally post this on the 911 ,but since I've got my truck apart and it's Sunday and I need to put it back together to get to work tomorrow(well you get the picture).
The rear end of my six speed tranny started leaking where it mates to the T-case.The dealer wanted $600 to reseal it Since I'm not rich and sometimes not too lazy I figured I'd do it my self.
A buddy of mine suggested that I just loosen the bolts and slide the T-case back and RTV the sucker.I've got them seperated and there was no gasket or sealant between them and it dumped out a fair amount of tranny oil.Now I don't have the workshop manual to consult and was wondering if what I'm doing by RTV'ing it is right or if I should replace the seal? Is there even a seal on the rear of the tranny that's gone bad? Anybody with experience on the six-speed or has a tranny manual, your help would sure be appreciated right now. Thank You!
