Rear diff fluid color.... help!

What color is rear diff fluid supposed to be on a 2004.5 with only 2200 miles on the clock???? Just had mine checked to rule out a rear end whine and it was full, but graphite gray in color with some metal sticking to the magnet on the plug already.. please advise quickly
