Are you thinking of putting the 40 snail onto a H1C? A HX35? You thinking of removing your turbo and just bolting on a exhaust snail and wheel with no compressor? Is this for a gen 1? What size of housing? 18cm? 16cm?

That is a very open ended question.

I think it's the hx35 on it.. and i was wanting to keep my exhaust housing because a i have a pac brake exhaust brake.. and for the down pipe and all that i would have to delete it if i were to get a whole turbo.. this is for a 89.. i know i am going to have to get a center cartridge because when pulling you can tell the bearings are going bad in it.This summer i am going to intercool it, and put a turbo upgrade on it. i just want to know the best way.. I heard that the best and cheapest way is to just get the compressor housing and wheel and slap it on, and intercool it. But i just need some opinions

Balancing is important since the wheels spin up to 100,000 rpm. I know someone with the BD Super B on his first gen and it works very well.

If you are wanting to do some performance, everything will need to be changed if that is the case. I know from personal experience a HX35 with the H1C exhaust housing will run 35 psi with 1400 F so that can work to save you some money.... But it is not an ideal setup.

Well i am for sure going to intercool, And at least want a turbo upgrade. and I want a fast spool, and LOUD turbo whistle. But i have no experience with anything turbo wise. So I have no clue what to start with except to intercool it. Or where to get turbos, Or just get compressor housing and wheel or what.

We need to know what you plan on doing for upgrades? Just adding a turbo will not increase performance. You have to add fuel to do that.

What is the HP range your looking for?

Are you wanting usable HP for towing or just to play?

I really don't know the range. Around 400? Maybe or more. And I really like to play. But I tow also

Well your not going to do any towing in the 400 HP range. It will be to hot on EGt's and smokey for that. For towing your better off staying under 300 HP.

How much weight do you normaly tow?

Now about that HX40 wheel and cover upgrade your asking about. I wouldn't use one. Those are the old style intake wheels most kits use the 6 blade wheel. The 6/8 blade old style HX40's are nonextended tip wheels. They flow about 30% less air than a 7 blade HX40 with the extended tip wheel. A S300 with a 57MM intake wheel flows more than those 6/8 blades do. You can get the S300 with a 3" outlet to reuse you E-brake.

Now after the turbo talk remember you start raising the power that 3" exhaust is going to have to go. Your going to need a 4" system. Just stepping to a 4" system will drop EGT's 100 degrees with no other changes.

Then you will need to address that restrictive air intake horn. Going to something more free flowing will drop EGT's around 50 degrees at WOT. Our intercoolers are small. Very much in the way of fueling upgrades then it needs upgraded.

When you start modding the engine you need to address all aspects of the air intake and exhaust systems.

Give use some details on the truck. Year would help. Your comment on "I will have intercooled" leads me to think you have a nonIC truck. NonIC trucks have a decent set of injectors. You can do 300 HP with them.

It is a 89. It has stage 5 fuel pin, Fuel plates, and turbo work done to it, But its stock housing.. But it has a different center cartridge, and wheel. Because it spools way faster than stock. I think it has maybe 40-60hp injectors? I am 3rd owner on it and the boy that had it before me done all the work on it.
