Fill in the blank with the proper SAE specification.

    1) 6BT uses __________ bellhousing.

    2) 4BT uses __________ bellhousing.

    3) 6CT uses __________ bellhousing.

    4) N14, M11, BC - series, etc. engines use _________ bellhousing.

Well the 6b will take a SAE #2 I have one with it.

and it it will fit on the 6 it should also fit the 4.

so his 4. 0 is toast:)

I agree that the b engines are usually set up with a #3, but a #2 will also fit.

Don't know about the others... . never dealt with those engines

What do these SAE numbers mean? Is #2 a Chevy TH400 or anything like that? Can someone please explain?

No, I think it is the diameter of the bellhousing bolt pattern. . don't know which way it works though...

A Chevy TH400 has a TOTALLY different bolt pattern than anything SAE related. The TH-400 can actually have a BOP (Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac) pattern or a regular old GMC/Chevy pattern..... this isn't to say that a bellhousing adapter can be bolted onto the Cummins and have a TH400 bolt up to the adapter... .

BUT, SAE is SAE... . as long as you get an adapter for the right # SAE pattern and transmission pattern... you are set... . then getting the right flexplate and torque convertor is your next hurdle.

I'd like to see a GM 4L80-E behind a Cummins... . other than the one that is behind the pricy Cummins/Hummer conversion project.....

Darn PCM's... makes stuff more $$ to BOMB... . :D

how bad would you like to see one? I have a 4l80e and NP 208 combo that I was going to use for my conversion before I got the NV4500, that I would let go cheap!
